State School Superintendent Kathy Cox
visited Elm Street Elementary School and Evans Middle School on
Monday, August 19. Superintendent Cox observed teachers in both
schools, met with parents, read to Elm Street students and later
met with Evans faculty in the school’s media center.
Coweta State House Representative Lynn Smith, Superintendent
Blake Bass, and Associate Superintendent Jerry Davis welcomed
Cox and joined her during her tours.

At Elm Street students Sally Hoffman, Audrey Meyer and Preston
Wise (front row), helped lead a tour of the school, along with
(back row, left to right) Principal Julie Raschen,
Superintendent Cox, State Representative Lynn Smith, and Coweta
Superintendent Blake Bass. Superintendent Cox toured the school
with parents Beth Barnett and Kim Wise, also, and visited
several classrooms, including Coweta County Teacher of the Year
Carly Winstead’s 2nd grade class.

At Evans Principal Vince Bass, Assistant Principals Ron Gill,
Assistant Principal Khalilah Allen and parent Sandee Crain
toured 6th, 7th and 8th grade classes. Superintendent Cox later
met with teachers in the school’s media center to field
questions. Principal Bass joined Superintendent Cox in visiting
a 7th grade science lab as part of the tour.
